Otto

Otto is a London based company aimed at making the process of sourcing and buying furniture for your home easy—from making suggestions based on users preferences to curating and exposing some of the best designers and taste-makers in the industry.
Setting direction
Together with the founder, we established a roadmap to bring the MVP to market. This included collecting and articulating existing market research, creating a scope from insights gained and creating a low-fidelity prototype that could be seeded to industry leaders for feedback.
Discovery hub
The home screen served as a hub for discovery. Users who went through the onboarding are served tailored recommendations. Other products based on properties like new, popular and trending are served to those users who hadn’t set up their first room.
We also facilitated discovery by surfacing product categories, brands that may be of interest, a near you feature and our curator hub titled 'residents'.
Curation comes home
Users are encouraged to curate their rooms before making any purchases by including an add to room call to action on all product detail pages. On many items, we were able to locate the nearest vendor and direct users to see the product in the flesh.
Since we had a catalogue of over 200 vendors, there are plenty of options to choose from. Saving product to a room allowed us to notify users of price changes, stock availability and also fed into the recommendation engine.
Keeping things local
Near You showcases local retailers in your area, from big name brands to smaller boutiques and even antique shops. We had stock feeds from many retailers so were able to create a list of up to date brands and products stocked, along with other useful information like directions, opening hours and external links.
